| I'm willing to bet the tips are made from silicone for it's resistance to heat due to location in the damn near middle of the engine - however exposure to oil will cause them to swell. This is why coil pack have a "lid" at the top -to prevent accidental oil entry from above like if you spilled when filling up oil. However IF you let your valve covers go and they leak a decent amount of oil into the spark plug tube - the coil pack tips will swell just like posted above. This isn't a recall issue - it's a "this car is over 20 years old and it is over due for a maintance item" issue.
